Principles and Values:
- Service to the public first, before any political interests.
- Openness and transparency to all areas of Bethlehem town government.
- Qualifications and experience will be the first criteria for appointment to positions.
- Meaningful and diverse public participation from all areas of town to all areas of town government.
- Lead-by-example and use real teamwork in Town government and stop an excessive top-down style.
- Use the ability to compromise and find middle ground, to replace a “my-way-or-the-highway” approach to management.
- Encourage and support politics whose goal is public service first.
Policies and Programs:
- Become a sustainable community that balances revenue sources, expenditures, (including a capital infrastructure plan), economic development and open space planning that protects and enhances Bethlehem’s community character and quality of live.
- Bring best practices to all programs, set priorities and drive forward to make Bethlehem the best local government ever.
- Implement cost-savings and operational improvements developed under former Supervisor Egan’s Management Improvement Program.
- Expand support of current Bethlehem businesses, because their future success is a town-wide interest.
- Accomplish major financial and budgeting initiatives: Zero-based budgeting to reduce operating costs while maintaining program excellence; Accelerate and implement a Capital Plan to address critical fiscal impacts and investments over the next 20 years, and; Aggressively seek funding sources which are responsible alternatives to property taxes.
- Work with developers to provide additional diversified housing options for seniors, including smaller and less expensive units in the 800 to 1,200 square foot range.
