LAFARGE PLANT MODERNIZATION

I attended a Bethlehem Chamber of Commerce “Business for Breakfast”
event at the Bethlehem Public Library on May 14th. John Reagan,
Lafarge Environmental Manager briefed chamber members and others on
the major plant modernization program which is planned for the plant,
located on Route 9W in Ravena. From the presentation is appears that
this project could have a positive impact on the economic climate of
our region, employment and with respect to the environment as well. I
raised the issue that although this project was not in the Town of
Bethlehem, it was clearly regionally significant, and that is was
terrific that the Chamber was hosting a session so that everyone
could become better informed.

There is little doubt that this project will be a subject of
importance, interest and conversation in the future, so it will be a
good idea for all of us to stay informed. Checking out the Lafarge
website (lafargenorthamerica.com) might be useful to find out about
emerging information.
